MAMMALS

WHAT MAKES AN ANIMAL A MAMMAL?

The children studied mammals this week. Mammals are animals that have got certain characteristics that make them different from other animals. They have fur/hair, legs on land, and have lungs to breathe. They also give birth to babies from their mother´s womb and drink their mother´s milk.

We made a poster and put pictures of different mammals on it. Each child brought a picture of a mammal to add to the poster. Each child had to say the name of the mammal in English and tell if it was a carnivore or herbivore.

Some children brought pictures of their own pets from home, who are mammals, to put on the poster.

Other children brought pictures of mammals from magazines, books, or the internet.
